Bridge over the River Ark

Today was the grand opening of the new 4th street bridge over the Arkansas River.  Very beautiful, wide, and spacious bicycle lanes while crossing the bridge, but once you're off the bridge, the party is over and it's back to honking vehicles, mirrors whizzing by your left shoulder, and a narrow gutter like spot to ride in.  My suggestion:
Coming from the west, take either Elmhurst Place or Chapa Place to access the bridge, that way you avoid 4th street.  Once over the bridge, turn off onto West St ASAP!
Coming from the east, take 6th street through the Midtown Center parking lot or on Midtown Circle Drive to access the bridge.  On the other side, cut off on Elmhurst Place or Chapa Place.
It's not a perfect situation, but it's much better than it was!  Enjoy!

  1. I can't wait to use the bridge! Ive always avoided it although it's the fastest way to my house from the library and yoga studio. Yay!
