Commuter of the Month (April)
I'd like to introduce you to Mr Alternative Transportation Commuter for April, Sergio Murillo. I'm hoping to make this a monthly post, if I can find enough non-car drivers in town. If you, or someone you know would like to be recognized as an Alternative Transportation Commuter of the month, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
What form of alternative transportation do you use?
Why did you start using alternative transportation?
It’s always been my primary choice growing up in Costa Rica. I was always an avid bike rider until the industrial world forced me to switch to the automobile.
How has alternative transportation helped you with your lifestyle (economics, health, relationships)?
Bicycling has not been so much financially or lifestyle reasons, but rather it helps me have the moral authority to tell my patients to exercise, it’s doable.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a teacher/family practice doctor/community actor. Doctor in latin means docere (teacher).
Any funny or interesting commuting stories that you may want to share?
I have too many. One time we saw a woman in a wheel chair strapped in with bungi cords in the back of a truck. Now that’s an alternative way to transport a grandma.
What do people (coworkers, friends) say when you tell them that you use alternative transportation to commute to work?
Don’t you know it’s cold outside.
I hope you don't ride like you ski.
