2010-1937=73!!!But really, do you think that the same bicycle:car stats were true of Pueblo 73 years ago? I am sure there were more bikes then. Cars were more expensive. Maybe it was horses in Pueblo. They just skipped the bike... SUrely its the same for GJ.

Apparently my English is as poor as my arithmetic. That was suppose to read A fine Geology degree at "work".BUT, I do think, since a film in 1937 was made praising the bicycle and its benefits in Copenhagen, that at that time the people and/or city government were also seeing its benefits and using that information to develop and plan their city. Pueblo City Council may just be starting to see those benefits. But you are right, there were most likely more bicycles in Pueblo in 1937 than now due to cost. I'm not sure what the car/bike cost ratio was then compared to now. I think I will try to find out! But from a bicycle city planning perspective, Pueblo is very far behind.
I found a website that said, the average cost of a car in 1940 was around $850 and a new boys bicycle was around $30. There is much more information on the web about historical car prices. Entry level cars cost as low as $445 and performance models up to $3500. So what does the average car and bicycle cost today?
Comerica Auto Affordability Index in 2005 reported the average automobile price to be $27,958, up 6 percent from last year.
This is just a guess, but I would say the average bicycle today costs around $450 with entry level models starting at $150 and performance models up to $2000 or more.
