Commuter of the Month (JUNE)

I'd like to introduce you to Mr Alternative Transportation Commuter for June, Tony Nicola. I'm hoping to make this a monthly post, if I can find enough non-car drivers in town. If you, or someone you know would like to be recognized as an Alternative Transportation Commuter of the month, please send me an email at kopp.ryan@gmail.com

What form of alternative transportation do you use?

-I do a lot of biking to work and running to work.

Why did you start using alternative transportation?

-I was training for the Denver marathon and found biking to be a great cross training exercise. From there just kind of saved time by using my rides to work as a training session. After the marathon I just kept up with it!

How has alternative transportation helped you with your lifestyle (economics, health, relationships)?
-It's definitely simplified my life. Can't say it doesn't make me in better shape.

What do you do for a living?

-I work at Qwest as a customer service agent as well as go to school at CSUP.

Any funny or interesting commuting story that you may want to share?
-One time while I was on lunch for work I rode over to subway for a quick bite (in the rain). While I was there a lady in front of me questioned if I rode here, to which I replied "of course." She was amazed that someone would ride around for transportation and to do it in the rain, whoa! It goes on for awhile about bikes. Long story short: She bought me lunch for chatting about it with her, I thought it was pretty nice!

What do people (coworkers, friends) say when you tell them that you use alternative transportation to commute to work?

-I'd like to think I might inspire some people at my work to start using alternative transportation to get around with some of my stories. But who knows. They always ask if I want a ride home when leaving haha.
